Although the tech industry and automotive industry may seem unrelated, Brendan Cahill suggests that today’s executives must find ways to connect Silicon Valley and Detroit. Executives in the automotive industry not only have to address new dimensions of safety concerns, but also must recognize how technology is demanding that motor vehicles become more personalized. Not only do motor-vehicles need to be able to alert police or fire departments during an emergency but they also must: unlock the car remotely at the drivers request, avoid collisions, detect when objects enter the blind spot, activate an automatic brake, and use Bluetooth (to make calls, stream music, or get information).
